Why?
A wedding!
How do we get there?
An Airplane!
Who's on this trip?
Mom, Dad, Malone, and Bsaurus!
We arrived at our home airport at 5:20 am EST and landed in Portland, OR at 10:45 am PST.
The girls did great on the plane.
After picking up our rental car, we decided to head north into Washington State and visit Mount St. Helens National Volcano Monument. Surprisingly, Bsaurus for all her warnings about Hawaii and the volcanoes, had no problems with this excursion. Perhaps she's over her fear of volcano eruptions?
The further north we drove, the heavier the cloud cover got. We were concerned that we wouldn't be able to see anything when we got to our destination, Johnston Ridge Observatory. Just when we were about to give up and head back south, we came around a corner and were right above the cloud cover.

Further up the road, you could see the effects from the pyroclastic flow when Mount St. Helens erupted.
It's a bit unnerving that 31 years later it is still this desolate.
you can see the tree fall from the pyroclastic flow behind Malone
It was quite the excursion and one we are glad to have made.
